The Janitor will provide janitorial duties and maintenance support for the warehouse.
This position is 2nd shift with the hours of 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Essential Responsibilities:
Clean and maintain all café areas before and after breaks as well as checking and restocking supplies as needed.
Clean and maintain restrooms throughout day as well as checking and restocking supplies as needed.
Clean/sweep floor areas in pick module areas to include floor mats; staircases; mezzanine and sorter areas.
Collect all recycled paper from office and floor work areas for proper disposal in recycling bins.
Dispose of trash from facility into proper receptacles and replace container bags as needed.
With training and certification, operate balers (cardboard and plastic) to make bales for proper pick up and disposition.
With training and certification, operate floor sweepers and scrubbers as well as industrial equipment (electric pallet jacks and forklifts) to move and transport debris and bales.
Monitor/inventory janitorial supplies and notify supervisor for re-ordering.
Notify maintenance supervisor or manager of all safety related concerns noted in the facility.
Assist maintenance department in a maintenance helper role with minor repairs as needed (conveyor equipment, material handling equipment etc.)
Ensure compliance with all safety procedures in handling materials as well as equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma preferred.
Prior experience in janitorial, custodian, or facility maintenance preferred.
Industrial equipment experience (pallet jacks and/or forklifts) a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to organize time and prioritize schedule to complete all tasks during shift.
Ability to communicate effectively to team members/leadership on issues or concerns that may be discovered in the facility.
Ability to note emergency situations if found (maintenance, safety, etc.) to elevate to proper levels.
General math aptitude (for inventory, supplies, etc.).
Knowledge of general warehouse facility terms and materials.
Ability to work overtime as required.
Physical Demands/Work Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat 100% of the work day.
Ability to lift up to 40lbs, and heavier product with assistance or with proper equipment.
Ability to move, push, pull product as needed.
Ability to work in varying temperatures in the distribution center environment as well shipping yards, dock ramps, outside elements, etc
