Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to help advance the capabilities of ArcGIS Insights, which is used for self-service analysis through visual analytics. Through effective and novel uses of visual analytics, ArcGIS Insights aims to encourage a broader adoption and use of data analytics and visualization that encompasses both spatial and non-spatial components.

You will use your talent, expertise, and passion for problem solving to ensure we deliver software that fulfills the needs of data analysts and scientists. You will work side by side with developers and designers in a fast, creative atmosphere to ensure the usability, quality, and functionality of our software meets customers' needs and challenges.

As a product engineer, you will help design, test, maintain, and document features and capabilities of this cutting-edge software. This position will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills as a product engineer and team member, concentrating on those areas of the role that you enjoy. In turn, you will be expected to be an invested member of a passionate and skilled team that is dedicated to developing full-stack software that customers enjoy using and helps them succeed.

Responsibilities

Research customer needs, industry standards, and competitive analysis to help define requirements
- Design and develop test plans and test cases to support and enhance overall product quality and ensure the product meets release quality requirements
- Share and distribute workflows and best practices through forums, blogs, and events
- Be an integral member of a team developing features and enhancing the software in each release cycle
- Work with internal product teams across the ArcGIS platform as required

Requirements

- Core analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in the spatial realm
- Passion for analysis and GIS with the ability to give and receive feedback constructively
- Proven ability to deliver work, in teams or individually, in a fast-changing environment
- Self-motivated and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum guidance
- Dedication to customer success
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Knowledge or interest in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Basic knowledge of an RDBMS (PostGreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, SAP Hana)
- Bachelor's or higher in environmental science, computer science, engineering, GIS, data science or related field (master's preferred), depending on position level

Recommended Qualifications

- Experience solving real-world problems in industry or an academic setting
- A passion for data handling, exploration, and spatial analysis
- Demonstrable programming or scripting experience
- Some experience with web technologies (HTML5 and RESTful web services, JavaScript)
