Production Maintenance Technician at Daybreak Foods

Job Description:

Summary: Under the direction of the Sr. Pullet Production Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for all aspects of maintaining pullet houses, with the primary focus being on maintenance-related duties.

Key Responsibilities:
-Maintain pullet house equipment in properly running condition
-Perform regular preventative maintenance on pullet related equipment
-Perform general maintenance tasks to include; plumbing, electrical wiring, troubleshooting, installation of new equipment and parts
-Maintain documentation of preventative maintenance performed
-Identify any required parts needed and notify Sr. Pullet Production Supervisor
-Trouble shooting of electrical equipment and computer control devices
-Assist in repairs as requested in production and processing areas
-Keep work area clean and organized at all times
-Assist the Sr. Pullet Production Supervisor in day-to-day operations
-Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Education & Experience-
-High School diploma, GED, or equivalency preferred
-Previous experience in maintenance is required
-Experience in production agriculture preferred
-Previous experience in pullet barns preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-Ability to work well without constant supervision
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to read, speak and write English preferred
-Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred, but not required
-Working knowledge of acknowledge of agricultural operations preferred
-Possess existing knowledge or the ability to learn electrical and electronics including; frequency drives and inverters, generators, computers and PM software
-Ability to operate tractors and skid loaders is preferred
-Skilled in lock out/tag out and other safety procedures
-Basic computer operating skills
-Strong organizational and time management skills
-Mechanical aptitude
-Ability to read, calculate and understand basic production statistics such as; percent production, pounds feed per 100 birds, case weight and other measurements as required
-Ability to operate basic farm machinery such as tractors and skid steers is preferred
-Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve objectives
-Detail orientation
-Ability to interact with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds

Physical Requirements:
-Stand
-Walk
-Use hands to handle tools, objects or controls, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, bend, twist, reach, crouch or crawl.
-The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and talk or hear
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
-Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
-Ability to wear a half-face respirator, which requires medical testing

Working Conditions:
-Temperatures ranging from 68 to 100 degrees F
-May have to work outside in any weather conditions

-Showering in and changing into a uniform is required. Showering out is optional
-Uniforms are provided by Daybreak Foods, Inc.
-Work schedule will include some weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and/or extended shifts with all complex requirements met on a daily basis without fail
