The DOD will report to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. The Director will focus on building and managing a portfolio of high-value current and prospective donors through on-going identification, qualification, cultivation and stewardship with an annual expectation of personal visits and gift productivity. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:

A Bachelor's degree and one (1) to three (3) years of professional level work experience in one (1) or more of the following: program management, recruiting, sales/fundraising, or business development in an academic or business setting.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

3+ years fundraising/development experience preferred; Experience with Advance or similar donor management software; Understanding of large complex, decentralized public higher-education institutions; Work with high self-imposed standards and discipline; Familiarity of local, state and regional business and philanthropic leadership

Job Duties:
- Develop and manage a dynamic major gift ($10,000+level) portfolio of donors and prospects, meeting regularly with donors to assess giving ability, cultivate relationships, solicit gifts meeting university priorities in the major gift range and provide exceptional stewardship to donors.
- Develop and refine fundraising efforts to increase individual and corporate support and to provide new resources for leadership, faculty and students in the form of endowed chairs, fellowships and scholarships, research, building and equipment funds, student success funding and unrestricted funds.
- Manage a major gift portfolio of existing donors, meeting regularly to assess giving ability, cultivate relationships, solicit gifts and provide meaningful stewardship.
- Perform a minimum of ten (10) meaningful face-to-face visits weekly connected to the portfolio of donors and prospective donors.
- Develop detailed cultivation and perform solicitation for gift opportunities tailored to the interest of potential major donors, consistent with established needs and priorities of the University.
- Write proposals for solicitation of individual, corporate and foundation prospects with a focus on developing an individual giving pipeline, sustaining and enhancing corporate philanthropy and developing initiatives to support student success.
- Identify prospective donors through research, networking, referrals and other means appropriate.
- Meet with prospective donors personally to qualify them as major gift prospects.
- Prepare proposals, presentations and resulting gift agreements.

- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including: faculty, faculty committees, academic administrators, students and community members
- Ability to manage a major gift portfolio of existing and prospective donors
- Ability to prepare proposals, presentations and gift agreements
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes night, weekends and holidays
- The ability to operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid driver's license
- Ability to travel in and out of state, which may include overnight stays
