Summary:

We are in search of a Senior Planner to join our family of scientists, engineers and planners with a strong planning skillset to support municipal, state, federal and private projects throughout the United States. This is an engaging and high impact professional position where you will work closely with national industry leaders to support our clients with integrated planning that includes among other facets regulatory and non-regulatory drivers, green storm water infrastructure (GSI), storm water best management practices (BMPs) or storm water control measures (SCMs), distributed/decentralized wastewater management, hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis, water quantity and water quality analysis, sustainable agriculture, and integrated storm water/wastewater projects. In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a team member to support routine and non-routine assignments related to environmental planning and compliance projects of substantial variety and complexity, typically under the direct supervision of a Project or Program Manager.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Conduct research related to coastal, climate adaptation, community resilience, economic development, spatial mapping, natural resources, water infrastructure, and environmental compliance planning including local codes and ordinances, comprehensive plans, program policies and operations, rules and regulations, funding or similar areas

  • Perform planning analysis to assess program and ordinance gaps, barriers, needs, and opportunities for enhancements to achieve client objectives

  • Facilitate client and stakeholder processes to establish goals and objectives, integrate technical and policy aspects, establish priorities, generate plans, develop programs and implementation strategies, and support implementation

  • Manage and/or contribute to project documentation and deliverables such as memos, reports and plans; develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures/maps and tables/matrices; and assist with quality control and assurance

  • Assist in preparing and delivering presentations to inform and update clients on project progress and deliverables

  • Lead and support building and maintaining client relationships, identifying client needs, and procuring work involving planning and program development

  • Lead and support defining scopes, schedules and budgets for technical teams to accomplish client planning objectives

  • Manage projects and/or tasks by executing work plans, providing direction to team members, communicating effectively with clients and team members, monitoring progress and budgets, and making course corrections when needed

  • Maintain state-of-art qualifications through professional development, taking initiative, learning new skills and adjusting to changing conditions or requirements


You'll Bring These Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in planning

  • Professional Licensed Planner in Puerto Rico

  • Strong background in community outreach and stakeholder engagement

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of GIS systems and data collection

  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English

  • Good writing and communication skills

  • Familiarity with elements of local planning, economic development, social inclusion, regulatory compliance

  • Familiarity and experience with local codes and ordinances review and development, land use planning, and multi-criteria decision-making approaches

  • Highly motivated with a desire to lead and/or support integrated consulting teams and continue to grow professionally
