These problems will come from all parts of the Essendant’s Supply Chain and will include challenges like:
Develop analytical tools for inventory stocking strategies that minimize Essendant’s investment in working capital while achieving or exceeding customer service-level targets
Build / enhance Supply Chain data sources as well as various standard and ad-hoc reporting & analytical tools based on these data sources
Contribute to the continuous improvement effort to identify and quantify Supply Chain performance improvement opportunities towards cost-to-serve reduction and/or customer service level improvement
The resource will work closely with the Sr. Manager of Operations Analytics. The analytics preformed will encompass all aspects of Supply Chain projects involving a diverse group (including Inventory, Merchandising, Sales, Logistics, and Fulfillment Centers).
Primary Responsibilities:
Apply analytical methods to solve complex, data-driven business problems that will ultimately have a direct impact on the Essendant’s bottom-line
Communicate results to management and the business as needed
Research, design, and implement data models and BI tools and innovative algorithms to analyze diverse sources of data to realize actionable results to optimize the supply chain
This role will be directly or indirectly supporting all functional areas within the Essendant’ Supply Chain
Basic Requirements:
BS/MS (or three years’ relevant work experience) in Supply Chain, Operations Research, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
Experience with data mining, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and mathematical optimization tools, and data visualization tools
Ability to identify and evaluate the cause-and-effect relationship between supply chain/business drivers and the corresponding supply chain performance results (KPIs)
Ability to coordinate and work with multiple teams to execute solutions
Effective communication skills
Ability to work in fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Requirements:
Programming Skills developing back-end cloud applications in NodeJS, Go, Python, or Java & Scala
Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL data stores on-premise and in the Cloud (e.g.: SQL Server, PostgresSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Azure Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, Redshift, Teradata, Oracle)
Experience building solutions on public cloud platforms (e.g.: Azure, AWS, GCP) using platform services and integrating with various on-premise systems
Experience working with data visualization and BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI pulling data from various sources such as Azure and Teradata
Knowledge of the supply chain operations and business acumen
Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner with both technical and nontechnical customers
Knowledge of Essendant’s business units, Merchandising, and Supply Chain systems is a plus
