As an Environmental Services Technician you will:

• Perform general housekeeping and custodial work within the University Hospital/American Family Children's Hospital/or clinics


• Clean and disinfect facilities, using proper procedures and equipment


• Aid in the prevention of diseases by sanitizing patient and public areas


• Responsible for various trash removal duties


• Follow hospital procedures to dispose of contaminated items


• Replenish hand soap and paper towels in restrooms


• Work independently under a general supervisor

Education:

Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent education

Work Experience:

Preferred: At least six months of continuous employment with a single employer.

Preferred: Previous cleaning and/or customer service experience.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Basic communication skills and working knowledge of the English language.


• Ability to work independently or with a team with little direct supervision.


• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, short correspondence, and memos.


• Ability to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee and external customer satisfaction.


• Effective organizational and planning abilities.


• Willingness to use initiative and handle extra duties as needed.


• Ability to multi-task and work at a rapid pace.

Physical Requirements: Medium: Ability to lift to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

For Floor Care/Trash/Contamination positions: Heavy - Ability to lift up to 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule: Multiple shifts available (1st shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm or 11:00 am - 7:30 pm, 2nd shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm or 5:00 pm – 1:30 am, 3rd shift: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am).  Some positions may include every weekend or every other weekend.

Pay:  The starting salary for this position is $15.00/hr with a shift differential of $2.50/hr and/or weekend differential of $2.10/hr. UW Health offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The starting rate of pay may be higher based on work experience that is relevant to the position.
