SQL Software Engineer at Inmar

Job Description:

Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the Application Development Manager, the SQL Software Engineer performs work assignments as part of a project team which could include developing and implementing large-scale, high-volume databases and data warehouses in Microsoft SQL Server technologies.  Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: software solution code development; dimensional data construction and unit testing; system tuning and overall solutions testing.  The successful candidate will also work with end-users, domain experts, support teams and product managers.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:


  • Develop a sound understanding of data flows and business rules, documenting and maintaining them, and asking questions to clarify how systems work.

  • Responsible for addressing complexity, performance, and supportability of various databases.

  • Design and develop solutions that are high-performing and extendable on a global scale

  • Create, alter, tune, troubleshoot and de-bug SSIS packages, T-SQL functions, T-SQL Stored Procedures, T-SQL Views, CLR Functions, CLR Stored Procedures and Reporting Services Reports

  • Adherence to company architectural and development standards

  • Develop and provide system documentation as needed

  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with all levels of employees and management is required

  • Demonstrate good teamwork and provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff members

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from a four-year college or university and 3+ years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong understanding of SQL Server 2008 / SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2016 a plus

  • Experience with SQL Server SSIS

  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services a plus

  • Ability to develop using .NET technologies a plus

  • Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services a plus

  • Proven abilities and knowledge in performance tuning of database related functions

  • Proven ability to work in a demanding, high paced environment

  • Understanding of systems analysis and design (hardware, software, policies, procedure and data)

  • Ability to develop and maintain good technical and professional communication skills, both written and oral

  • Ability to research, develop and manage systems unsupervised

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment
