Job Description Summary
The Los Angeles Times is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our team. The postholder will be responsible for maintaining correct general ledger balances, preparing/reviewing journal entries, month-end closing entries, reviewing related account reconciliations, providing activity analysis to management for accounts and preparing required financial statement support to management, government agencies and auditors.

Responsibilities:
Examine and analyze financial information such as balance sheets, income statements, monthly/quarterly operating results and ensure the overall integrity of the company's general ledger.
Prepare/review journal entries, bank reconciliations and account reconciliations/analysis.
Prepare/review schedules/analysis as required for annual external audit.
Support Finance/Accounting and other departments with reclassification and/or research requests.
Review analysis and journal entries of complex transactions.
Provide guidance on accounting treatments as needed.
Participate in leading special accounting and efficiency projects.
Qualifications:
Accounting: 4 years (Required).
Supervising: 1 year (Desired).
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Must be able to work cooperatively and adaptively in a team setting.
Must be able to work under pressure, multitask and produce high quality work in a deadline driven environment.
Must be able to utilize computers, software systems and tools.
Must be able to work irregular and/or long hours.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University in accounting or finance field. CPA or CPA candidate is desired.
