Our client serves as the corporate memory of the laboratory, collecting and preserving records that document its history and making those records accessible to inform and enhance current research and administrative efforts. The role of Archives Project Specialist will assist with metadata improvements, exhibits preparation, oral histories development, content release, and audiovisual assessment projects related to the preservation of and increased access to historical lab records, with particular note of the laboratory's upcoming 75Th anniversary in 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

- Manage the Laboratory Archives oral history program

- Manage the Laboratory Archives exhibits development strategy

- Research on Laboratory history and programs for reference, collection evaluations, and for the development of exhibits

- Coordination with Laboratory stakeholders to increase access to and reuse of historical Laboratory documents

- Digitization of select Laboratory documents for preservation and access

- Collaborate with Media Archivist on audiovisual appraisal projects

- Arrangement and description of Laboratory historical records

- Data entry and updates within archives management and library catalog systems

- Support for and participation in other related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance

- MS/MA plus 1-year minimum relevant experience, or BS/BA plus 4 years minimum relevant experience

- Three years relevant work experience in an Archives or Library

- Practical knowledge of library catalog tools and archives management tools

- Compelling interest in archival work and an excellent aptitude for related skills including: organization, meticulous attention to detail, problem-solving, follow-through, and decision-making

- Demonstrated experience with oral history interviews and writing/developing historical exhibits

- Must be able to communicate clearly, compellingly, and tactfully

- Practical experience working with audiovisual media and digital formats

- Experience with scanning software, hardware, and applications, including Adobe products

- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and meet goals

- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative teamwork environment

- Must be able to lift 40-50lb. boxes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Proficiency with OMEKA software for exhibit design and collection display

- Experience working with video management platforms such as Mediasite

- Knowledge of audiovisual metadata fields and standards (including Dublin Core)

- Experience handling sensitive and/or classified information.

- Location: Lexington, MA

- Travel: Distance travel not applicable; some local visits as required.
