Overview

The Assistant Chief Pilot will be responsible for line pilot duties and supervising aspects of flight operations in their designated area. This includes design, development and implementation of organizational short and long-term plans in the context of our vision and mission.

Responsibilities

Under the general guidance and direction of the Chief Pilot, the Assistant Chief Pilot will perform the following tasks:

Flight Department:
Performs all duties associated with line pilot responsibilities to include shift coverage, reserve pilot, and lead pilot duties as applicable to their current position.
- Participates as a member of the management team to promote a successful operation.
- Assists the Chief Pilot in the oversight of flight operations, formulating operations policies, coordinates those policies, and coordinates operations and training.
- Assists Chief Pilot in regulatory upkeep of FAR 91, 135, 8900, Advisory Circulars, Notices, Operating Specifications, General Operations Manual, SOP's, and the best practices of AMRM.
- Ensures that revisions received for the Operations Manual, Training Manual, MEL, Checklists and Operations Specifications are distributed, the publications are updated, and verification processes completed in accordance with company procedures.
- In the absence or unavailability of the Chief Pilot, the Assistant Chief Pilot will assume those duties.
- Ensures the Director of Operations and Chief Pilot are notified in the event of encounters with the FAA such as ramp checks, base visits, or request to contact ATC.
- Investigates aviation mishaps and performs a root cause analysis as requested.
- Participates in the organizations FAA voluntary reporting programs as well as all company internal reporting programs.
- Advises the Chief Pilot regarding out-of-compliance issues.
- Responsible for correcting compliance or safety issues when directed by the Director of Operations or Chief Pilot. Provides supervision to Company Pilots concerning regulatory issues.
- Ensures that all flight operations are conducted safety and in compliance with all FARs, Operations Manual, Operations Specifications and Company Policies.
- Coordinates training requirements:
- Sets standardization expectations - train the trainers.
- Flight Instruction/Ground Instruction coordination.
- Aircraft availability and schedule as required
- Student availability and schedule as required
- Coordination of company required ground training that requires a pilot, such as, AMRM, QAB testing, outside organizational training, etc.
- Performs audits in accordance with company assurance practices in the areas of :
- Flight and Duty time records.
- Training Records.
- Load Manifests/W&B procedures.
- Shift change briefing signoffs; sits in on the briefing when possible.
- Responsible for pilot schedules and participates in the establishment of duty hours.
- Along with assisting the team of instructors, will also personally deliver instruction both on the ground and in flight, possibly in more than one type of helicopter or airplane.
- Constantly looks for ways to enhance the efficiency and safety of all facets of flight training.
- Provides maintenance check flights as required.
- Maintains qualification as PIC in at least one aircraft used in REACH operations.
- Performs Flight Instructor / Check Airman duties, as assigned.
- Acts as Line Pilot as required.
- Maintains close communication with Base Lead Pilots and General Managers and participates in and facilitates problem-solving, process improvement and internal customer relations.
- Works directly with the General Managers on matters concerning service delivery.
- Works with General Manager on matters concerning employee development and engagement.
- Gain thorough knowledge of all aircraft operated by the Company, although not required to be current in each aircraft.
Regulatory:
- Ensures that the Company remains in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations as pertains to pilot flight training requirements.
- Provides liaison to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but not named on Part 135 Certificate.
- Maintains administrative oversight of managing all pilot flight training records, and represents the company during any FAA audits of pilot training records.
- Ensures that all scheduled and unscheduled training is completed as required by Federal Aviation Regulations, company Training Manual, specific Aircraft Flight Manual, and other company policies and procedures.
Management:
- Provides Chief Pilot with timely and accurate reports as to the status of pilot training requirements. At a minimum, the report will include present training status of each pilot, future training to be accomplished and resources that will be needed to complete the required training.
- Promotes a 'Safety Is Our First Priority' attitude for all of our flight crewmembers.
- Maintains inventory and accounts for all training equipment.
- Assists with the recruitment and hiring of pilots as required.
- Provides budgetary information to upper management as required.
- Establishes and maintains liaison with the Clinical Department for fulfillment of medical crew's flight training requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and experience preferred.
- 3000 hours PIC helicopter time; 500 hours of night experience; 200 hours of IFR experience.
- Single Pilot IFR experience.
- Preference is given to applicants who have an ATP rating.
- Commercial rated multi-engine airplane or helicopter license, plus at least five (5) years experience in management which includes supervision, budgetary and safety.
- Highly knowledgeable of the Operations Manual, FARs, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, etc., and other instructions pertinent to flight operations.
- Ability to think strategically while attending to details.
- Skills in observations, assessment and creative problems solving.
- Ability to communicate professionally, effectively and persuasively both orally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure, work effectively and accurately with frequent interruptions, and set and reset multiple priorities.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Team building skills.
- Current Class II Medical Certificate

- Ability to travel at least 60% of the time.
- Willingness to work overtime, evenings and weekends (if required).
