As a Scheduler in Labor and Delivery, you will be responsible for the secretarial functions in Women's Services. You will interact with patients, visitors, physicians and their office staff, and other hospital personnel in a professional manner.

You will answer phones and schedule and reschedule patients' appointments
*

You are responsible for the registration of new patients
*

You will obtain, enter, and update patient demographic information
*

You will perform clerical functions in compliance with hospital policies and procedures
*

You will transcribe or enter orders appropriately
*

You are responsible for ordering supplies on a regular schedule
*

You are responsible for maintaining chart organization and keeping files/forms in an orderly, organized fashion
*

You will prepare charts for new patients and organize charts for discharged patients
*

You will discharge patients immediately from computer upon patient leaving the unit
*

You will notify housekeeping of rooms to be cleaned promptly after patient discharge
*

You will provide assistance, guidance, and direction to patients, visitors, nurses and physicians in a professional manner
*

You will verify all insurance and obtain pre-certification/authorization through Passport/E-Care
*

Register and admit all patients after the other registration departments are closed

QUALIFICATIONS Experience

Good grammar, spelling and math skills to perform related clerical and secretarial duties
*

Ability to interact with others in a diplomatic and courteous manner on the telephone and in person
*

Pervious clerical experience in the hospital field - preferred
*

Medical terminology knowledge - preferred
*

Computer skills - preferred

Education

*

High school diploma or GED equivalent
