The Main Operating Room has 24 operating rooms, Children's Surgery Center has 6 operating rooms and Same Day Surgery Center has 4 operating rooms. The majority of the surgical procedures performed tend to be complex. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, patient care is provided to a wide range of surgical services including: Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Vascular, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Burn, Trauma, Gyn, Urology, Pediatrics, Transplant, and General Surgery.

Responsibilities
Assistant Nurse Managers in the Operating Room are registered nurses who are responsible for administrative coordination and clinical management of the Pavilion O.R., PODS, Children s Surgery Center, Same Day Surgery Center, and/or University Tower O.R. or other O.R. location over a specific time period.

The Assistant Nurse Manager must have a strong foundation of clinical knowledge and skills on which to base judgments and make decisions, organizing abilities to direct nursing tasks and operations, and interpersonal skills to facilitate communication and the work of others. The Assistant Nurse Manager accepts the responsibility and is accountable for his/her own nursing practice. The Assistant Nurse Manager also seeks out and pursues opportunities for learning and assumes responsibility for their own self-development. Registered nurses must be knowledgeable and skillful in performing the Assistant Nurse Manager role. A registered nurse who assumes the role of Assistant Nurse Manager also assumes the responsibility inherent to the role. Three fundamental responsibilities for Assistant Nurse Manager include planning, coordinating, and evaluating unit nursing activities.

Required Qualifications

* Minimum of two years recent paid RN experience scrubbing and circulating a broad range of complex surgical procedures in an OR.

* CPR Certification.

* CNOR certification within 6 months of hire.

* Possession of valid California RN license.

* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).

* Recent work experience managing and coordinator a complex staff scheduling program in a large perioperative environment or similar OR setting.

Special Requirements

* This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
