WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Retail Manager will be responsible for managing a retail operation involved in the sales of welding hard-goods, safety equipment, construction tools and other gas and welding supplies in collaboration with Airgas Great Lakes network of branches in the local market. Primary accountabilities include compliance, recruitment, retention, training, day-to-day management of branch personnel, and managing the P&L for the branch.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Manages day-to-day operations at the retail store, including staffing, safety, compliance (OSHA, EPA, SAFECOR), security, inventory, counter sales, training.

* Collaborates with outside sales and all Airgas Great Lakes branch network facilities for production and distribution.

* Manages all critical issues at the retail store including sales, sales growth, budgets, margins and operational expenses, AR, credit & collections, competitor information, sales forecast and analysis

* Oversee employees, imparts product/process/procedural knowledge through appropriate coaching, mentoring and training.

* Overall responsibility for safety leadership and compliance of all retail store employees.

* Collaborates with the outside sales force and inside sales personnel in the acquisition and retention of customers.

* Coordinates sales promotion activities, merchandising and displays.

* Completes and submits all sales related reporting accurately and in a timely manner including (shippers, invoices, inventory audits, weekly/monthly and other reports, etc.)

* Key customer service contact regarding billing, receivables, delivery, problem resolution, customer retention, quality.

* Provides follow-up to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous and respectful manner

* Maintain and upgrade selling skills and technical product knowledge.

* Other duties and projects will be assigned (e.g. providing assistance to the Branch Manager with regard to planning and managing capital investments.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

* HS Diploma or equivalent required.

* Associates or Bachelors degree in Business, Welding Technology or Sales preferred.

* Minimum of 2 years of previous product, warehouse and/or sales related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

* Strong background in gas, welding and safety supply industry with retail experience preferred.

* SAP experience strongly preferred.

* Prior welding experience preferred such as knowledge in MIG, TIG, and STICK WELDING preferred.

* Prior experience operating a forklift preferred.

* Intermediate knowledge of Google applications.

* Excellent customer service skills.

* Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

* Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees.

* Detail-oriented and ability to problem-solve.

* Ability to operate a fork-lift.

* Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

* Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and move more than 200 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.

* Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this positions responsibilities.
