Job Description:

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. Southeast Division has an immediate need for an experienced IT Professional to serve as Systems Analyst for the Software, Systems and Modeling Sector in Raleigh, NC. The successful applicant will establish operational databases, software configuration control and system interfaces for computer system(s) assigned, maintain file servers, network access, and document and analyze system anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance.  Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for preparing system for operational use and support operational tests.

What you’ll do as a Systems Analyst

Systems analysts (also known as Information Systems Security Officers, or ISSOs as defined by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, or DCSA) maintains and monitors compliant information systems for use on government contracts. In this position, you will build, configure and maintain systems that adhere to government regulations.

Information Systems Analyst Requirements:


  • Active Secret Security Clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree 

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience OR 8-10 years of experience in lieu of a degree

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

  • Assist the ISSM with preparation for Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVA), Command Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI) and Other Government Agency (OGA) inspections

  • Cisco (or equivalent) management

  • Windows Server experience

  • VMWare experience

  • Patch management experience

  • Some linux experience

  • RMF knowledge

  • Security+ certification, or ability to earn one within 6 months

  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Possess the ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and be flexible

  • Possess the ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly

Information Systems Analyst Preferences:


  • Highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Strong interpersonal skills working with all levels of staff and customers

  • Experience in scripting and/or automation coding

  • Experience with performing system audits and vulnerability scans

  • Experience with Intelligence Community Directive 705

  • XACTA experience

  • Information Technology related certification

  • Degree in a related field
