Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Electronics design  of components, modules, and subsystems.

  • Electronics design in support of manufacturing staff for final assembly and sub-assembly test and test automation.

  • Fundamental understanding of high frequency switching circuits or power supplies.

  • Experience with control circuits in high noise environments.

  • Fundamental understanding of magnetics design and specification development.

  • Design optimization through modeling, simulation and analysis.

  • Develop test methods and protocols compliant with requirements in quality management system.

  • Conduct and document tests, collect data and prepare test reports in support of product design.

  • Provide input to identify opportunities for design improvements.

  • Assist otherengineering staff in their assignments and support departmental goals.

  • Coordinate work with electrical and mechanical development staff and with contract engineering resources as required.

  • Support development of budgets and timelines for projects.

  • Support design history file deliverables for assigned projects, adhering to design control procedures.

  • Provide Regulatory department technical support for assigned projects as needed.

  • Support Marketing and Product Management with technical information to be used for training and marketing of assigned products.

  • Report progress and status of assigned projects on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to Engineering Management.

  • Some required domestic travel to attend trade shows and visit established accounts as well as prospective accounts. International travel may be required.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required; MS preferred.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:


  • Design, analysis, and simulation of signal and power-level analog electronics including RF amplifiers, Operational amplifiers, linear and switchmode power supplies.

  • Understanding of signal processing and signal conditioning techniques

  • Understanding of digital circuits and implementation including programmable components (e.g. FPGAs).

  • Understanding of magnetics and transformer design

  • Understanding of firmware and software architecture, design, and implementation.

  • Experience with computational and simulation tools such asMatLab/Simulink.

  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability, Design for Testability, and Design for Serviceability.

  • Working knowledge of electrical design and medical device electrical safety standards.

  • Experience in schematic capture and board layout.

  • Knowledge of energy based surgery preferred (e.g. RF, ultrasonic, etc.)

  • Knowledgeable of FDA and ISO requirements for the development of medical devices .

  • Strong communication skills and accountability to project deliverable timing.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation, electrical testing equipment, Logic Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers.

Bench top testing and troubleshooting with typical lab equipment
