- Recognize position is within a clinical research setting, with ethical and HIPAA-like requirements. Additionally, ICH GCP guidelines, FDA and military regulations and applicable state laws are in practice.

- Within the framework of CTC management, responsible for overall lab requirements demonstrated by the following: Adapt to multiple priorities related to study requirements and personnel involvement

- Organize and maintain lab, assist in implementing best practices

- Serve as a resource for information regarding lab practices and blood draw requirements

- Assist in creating and maintaining specific lab and study documentation

- Assist in creating and maintaining inventories of specimen collection material

- Assist in the designing and updating of laboratory-based SOPs and various study documents

- Inventory: maintain and update supplies

- Serve as the secondary point of contact in the interaction with other labs, couriers, etc.

- Computer proficient in word and excel programs; save and store documents electronically, create forms.

- Provide all job-related progress reports/technical reports as requested.

- Perform other duties as required and assigned.

- Attend safety and ethics training relative to the position.

- Provide technical assistance to ICON GPHS Headquarters as needed.

- Primary person to perform phlebotomy for simple through full blood unit collections using standard techniques and universal precautions for approved research protocols.

- Receive and/or assist in collection of other types of samples (e.g. stool, urine, nasal swabs).

- Assist study coordinators in site preparation and required logistics for clinical study execution.

- Prepare, package and ship clinical specimens according to regulations, policies or procedures.

- Maintains a safe workplace ensuring that he/she is aware of and observes appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations. Employee is required to attend safety training relative to his/her position and report any infractions of safety procedures to the facility Safety Officer.

- Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Laboratory/office environment; may require working evenings and weekends. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Work may involve long periods of standing and handling of numerous chemicals and/or hazardous biological material. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications

Experience
1 - 2 years: Certified phlebotomist with experience in specimen processing, shipping, and archiving. (required)
1 - 2 years: Experience in specimen processing, shipping, and archiving. (required)
Must have excellent communication, organization and prioritization skills. (preferred)
Physical Capabilities: work may involve long periods of standing and handling of numerous chemicals and/or hazardous biological material. (preferred)
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and customers. (preferred)
Must be able to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training. (preferred)
