Job Description:

RTI's Behavioral Health Financing, Economics, and Evaluation Program is seeking a Master's-Level Health Analyst within our Center for Behavioral Health Epidemiology, Economics, and Treatment Research. The position is open immediately to tele-work for an undetermined period and then have a physical office location in one of RTI's US regional offices. The Center has a major presence in our RTP, NC office, and Rockville, MD.

The Center conducts contract and grant-funded work in epidemiology, health policy, public health, health economics, and health services, with a focus on substance use and mental health. The position is likely most suitable for candidates with a background or major in disciplines such as public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative psychology, quantitative sociology, and economics. The successful applicant will play a role in the application of a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods in support of projects that monitor and evaluate efforts to improve behavioral health. The successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, by delivering results with little supervision, as well as provide evidence of collaboration as part of a professional team.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct quantitative analyses on a range of projects for federal, state, and local governmental and non-profit clients

- Code, clean, and manage datasets using statistical software such as Excel, R, SAS, SPSS, and Stata

- Perform statistical analyses under the direction of senior staff

- Interpret and report on findings from data

- Contribute to discussions with external stakeholders and communicate effectively with internal and external clients

- Synthesize qualitative findings and interpret them in for reports

- Review the literature in health services research, economics, or social science to identify specific findings

- Assist in the creation of scientific publications and technical reports by providing research support for senior staff

- Prepare tables and charts; write sections of reports, manuscripts, and proposals

- Compile meeting notes and manage basic project correspondence

- Interact and communicate regularly with internal team members

- Provide guidance and oversight to RTI project staff and subcontractors on evaluation methods, topic area, and work products

- Master's degree in biostatistics, decision science, economics, epidemiology, health services research, public health, public policy, quantitative psychology, quantitative sociology, or other quantitative social or health science field required.

- Research experience or quantitative course work in health, public policy, or social science field

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required

- Proficiency in Stata or similar statistical software, such as SAS, is required

- Exemplary oral, written, and inter-personal communication skills

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks on multiple projects

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with staff in different geographic locations and with a range of education and experience levels.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Quantitative research experience in public health, public policy, or social science field

- Experience with data visualization software

- Knowledge of any AI and/or machine learning frameworks
