Utilizing independent judgement and discretion, the CDI specialist is responsible for concurrent review of clinical documentation in the medical record, queries the medical staff and other caregivers as necessary to obtain accurate and complete physician documentation that supports the severity of patients illness and risk of mortality and performs a thorough chart review to identify co-morbidities/complications, and documents these appropriately to ensure accuracy of coding and commensurate reimbursement.
Education: Degree in Medicine (MD) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Experience/Training: Minimum of 5 years experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement, Adult medical -surgical Critical Care and/or ED experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Current CA RN license required for nurses, ACDIS-CCDS or AHIMA-CDIP required.
Skills: Computer literacy, CERNER/3M 360 preferred
