General Summary:

Provide direction and leadership to ensure all distribution-operating objectives are accomplished in accordance with the company's financial targets. The individual in this position is expected to continually strive to maximize plant operations and productivity, asset utilization, labor productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction with finished goods and their delivery.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

- Provide direct supervision and development of distribution supervisors and materials specialists.

- Internal coordination with transportation scheduling, receiving, shipping, and BPI systems department.

- Oversee the WI campus interplant truck shuttle service to ensure timely pickup and delivery of finished goods and interplant transfers/parts.

- Planning, monitoring, executing, and communicating the daily, monthly, and annual shipping goals.

- Oversee the operations of the QD regional warehouses ensuring timely order fulfillment, and accurate inventory levels.

- Work with Material Specialists and procurement teams to define procedures to ensure proper inventory management across all distribution centers.

- Ensure the maintenance and maximum utilization of distribution assets and equipment.

- Minimize expenses related to work-related illness or injury through the encouragement of safe work practices and use of appropriate protective equipment.

- Enforcement of corporate safety and housekeeping policies and guidelines.

- Provide overall direction to improve value stream operation and processes on a continuing basis.

- Continuous improvement of productivity and efficiencies through effective employee relations, employee involvement, manpower planning, lean manufacturing principles, materials planning, and synchronized distribution.

- Optimize internal and external customer service levels by supporting and collaborating with all BU's to achieve schedule attainment and on-time shipping metrics.

- Manage direct labor by providing input in staffing, overtime use, and sales/operations plans.

- Optimize machine and equipment as well as provide guidance and support for the corporate maintenance initiatives.

- Participate and lead project teams focused on improving distribution/manufacturing operations.

- Develop and own current/future state value stream maps and implementation plans.

- Develop long-term strategic plans for achieving operational excellence in support of business units, company sales growth targets, and profitability levels.

- Provide overall direction to manufacturing engineering function to improve productivity including plant layout, process flow, routings/labor standards, work methods, capital equipment, and quality levels.

- Monitor production and sales activity to pinpoint variances to budget and make recommendations regarding corrective actions and revised plans.

- Review and manage salary expenditures in the form of hourly overtime or salaried merit increases.

- Represent distribution with outside visitors such as company tours, applicants in the interview process or vendors/suppliers as needed.

- Work with business unit managers to develop and implement strategic business plans.

- Understand, communicate, and improve business unit financials.

- Develop, communicate, and deliver key performance indicators for shop and office employees.

- Work with union leadership to resolve conflicts and improve operations. Responsible to strive to maximize material utilization.

- Develop a flexible and cross-trained work force.

- Understand and comply with applicable labor agreements and governmental regulations.

Job Qualifications:

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a minimum of a regular four-year college program. A master's degree in a related field is preferred.

Minimum 5 -10 years of experience required.

- Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the company

- Experience with continuous improvement projects is a plus and lean manufacturing concept is required.

- Must have the ability to work to in a flexible work environment and adapt to change quickly.

- SAP experience preferred but not required
