The Category Specialist-Chemicals will be part of the team responsible for the development of strategic plans surrounding Universal Pressure Pumping's Chemical Portfolio. They will support the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Chemicals team in developing and executing supply strategies, sourcing experience, and contracts negotiations and contract management as required. Additionally, they will work with internal SCM stakeholders managing logistics to support pressure pumping operations, which is critical to the success of this position in the long term. The candidate should have significant experience within the pressure pumping and broader O&G industry, strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of motivation/work ethic and a proven track record in management of a diverse customer base. This position will work under the direction of the SCM Director.
Detailed Description:
The selected candidate will also be accountable for the tactical execution of the Chemical Plans to support UPP's regional business including but not limited to:
- Working with the Sales/Business Development team to develop chemical forecasts
- Ensuring that any chemical gaps are identified early and mitigated as needed
- Creating Purchase Requisitons for chemical and/or waste services as the business needs dictate
- Managing daily performance of chemical suppliers
- Ensuring that all Chemical Purchase Orders are in place to support logistics execution
- Managing/Mitigating any chemical supplier failures
- Managing Open Purchase Orders
- Reviewing district inventory count to determine purchase quantities
- Execute or support market intelligence gathering and analysis to support the creation of strategic plans for the chemical category
- Understand both regional and national supply and demand market players and dynamics to input into category plans and support initiative planning and execution
- Understand and utilize \\"should cost\\" and other cost models as it relates to commercial impacts to support the chemical category
- Execute or support strategic sourcing events, spot bidding, relationship management, or other activities coming out of the chemical category plan
- Provide guidance and leadership for RFP development and evaluation, negotiations, supplier selection, and award recommendation as determined
- Prepare and lead fact-based negotiations and execute contracts utilizing approved terms and conditions
- Responsible and accountable for regional stakeholder management during all phases of the category management process. Work with stakeholders in implementing category strategies including: contract awards, supplier performance metrics (where applicable) and ongoing performance improvement initiatives
- As needed, execute performance management of high spend, strategic impact suppliers

Minimum Qualifications
- Four-Year College Degree in business, marketing, sales management, or related field; OR equivalent relevant work experience
- Must have valid state-issued driver's license and be eligible to drive Company vehicle including ability to meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy
- 2+ years' experience with pressure pumping materials (chemical, bulks, MRO items, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced education and SCM related certifications
- Oil & Gas industry experience
Additional Details
This position requires the person to work in both office and field locations. Variable work hours include regular after-hours, weekend and holiday commitments along as well as regular travel within and outside assigned region. Must comply with all Company policies, including requirements for operating a Company vehicle. Moderate to frequent travel is required and candidate must be willing to work outside of normal office hours..
