- Position Title: Counselor-Community Action Treatment (CAT) Team-Hendry and Glades Counties

Position Summary: Provides individual, family and group therapy for adolescents and young adults, ages 11-21 with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders on the Community Action Treatment (CAT) Team serving Hendry and Glades Counties. Unique and individualized services are conducted in the home, school, community and the office by the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field; 2 years' clinical experience working with children/families with behavioral health concerns. Willing to collaborate with a comprehensive treatment team and work a flexible schedule, including some evenings. Able to take part in on-call phone shifts that rotate among all team members. Valid Florida Driver's License with safe driving record and current auto insurance.

Preferred Qualification: Registered Intern eligibility preferable, but not required. Licensure is welcome. Bi-lingual competence is also welcome. Knowledge of family systems, trauma-focused treatment, and various evidenced based practices. Knowledge of local mental health, substance abuse, education, juvenile justice, child welfare and community resources is preferred.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Highly motivated, self-directed, and organized. Excellent writing and verbal skills for report writing and communication with community resources.

Essential Functions:
- Reports to work as scheduled on a daily basis to performjob duties to facilitate the development of therapeutic relationships with clients and to facilitate consistent client services.
- Provide individual, group and family counseling/psychotherapy primarily on-site (e.g. home or school) and in CAT office. Assist with development and implementation of therapy groups as needed.
- Assume primary responsibility for assessing child and family strengths, challenges and needs. In conjunction with the team, responsible for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals and plans per on-going assessment of needs and input from the child and family.
- Conduct on-going assessment of behavior, mental status, signs and symptoms mental health disorder, physical and dental health, substance use, and educational, social, developmental and family functioning. Refer child and family for additional services as identified.
- Consult with the school system, community agencies and families to maintain coordination of the treatment process. Advocate for child and family's rights and needs.
- Assist families with developing natural support systems.
- Provide on-call crisis intervention services via phone during nighttime and weekend hours as assigned.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Work Environment/Physical Demands: This position operates in a professional office environment and spends time in outpatient behavioral health and addiction treatment settings. This position may be subject to exposure to individuals who engage in maladaptive behavior. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to observe office environments and to use speech and hearing to interact with others in person, via telephone, using computer technology and in writing.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work and Travel: This is a full time, hourly position. Typical hours of work are Monday through Friday. Offers hours are 8:30-5 pm. However, this position offers a flexible schedule with some evenings. Local travel across the counties served by the program is required.
