Job Description:

The R&D Discovery and Technology Futures group is looking for a creative and energetic Genomics Associate Scientist to be at the fore front of innovating the next generation of IDEXX products. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, inquisitive, and excel in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment.

In this role you will specialize in genomics-related discovery work; you will perform a variety of scientific activities to support the discovery, development, maintenance, and improvement of our products.You will join a group of highly talented, technically-focused individuals working together to identify solutions to complex challenges. This will require you to exercise your analytical and creative thought-process, sound judgement, strong communications skills, and curiosity.

What you can expect:
- Prepares materials, performs experiments, gathers data, carries out analysis and reaches conclusions. May also design experiments.
- May specialize in sample preparation, PCR, and other amplification technology, assay prototyping and development.
- Uses advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances
- Documents experiments and other lab or production activities. Prepares reports and summaries. Presents results and conclusions. Maintains appropriate records.
- Prepares solutions and reagents for wet bench protocols.
- Participates on and may manage teams, planning and organizing team activities.
- Orders and maintains equipment and work area.
- Collaborates and communicates with colleagues and others in related areas to provide work support, exchange information and ensure efficient processes.
- May produce and/or test reagents and final molecular products
- Maintains knowledge of products and procedures, developments in the field and industry. Adheres to appropriate procedures and regulatory requirements.
- May participate in conferences, webinars and seminars to continue to develop knowledge base.

What you need to succeed:
- Bachelors or Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience in amplification methods and technology, e.g. PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, isothermal amplification
- Experience in sample preparation method and techniques
- Experience in amplification-free methods highly preferred.
- Skilled in miRNA assay development ideal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Organizational skills and ability to plan work is a must.
- Takes initiative and is accountable (shows ownership); focuses on task at hand; detail oriented.
- Adaptable.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle the stress of deadlines.
