Ophthalmology Publications Editor, Per diem
Reporting to the Associate Director of Ophthalmology Communications, the Publications Editor develops and produces effective, targeted marketing and communications material for the department s multiple print materials, including newsletters, brochures, guides, reports, postcards, etc., manages timelines, production process, and printer, and provides key writing support for departmental events and symposia.
This position requires superb writing, communication, and project management skills. Attention to deadlines, thoroughness, accuracy, and critical thinking are essential. A substantial degree of creativity and autonomy is expected.
This position is currently eligible for remote work.
REQUIREMENTS
* Minimum of 5 years of communications, writing, project management, or publishing experience
* Experience interviewing and writing long and short form copy, including features, editorials, remarks, and cover lines
* Excellent grasp of the written word, able to adjust writing style for the desired impact, and compelling storyteller with a knack for bringing ideas to life
* Ability to translate scientific text for various audiences
* Proficient in creating timelines
* Excellent follow-up skills Highly motivated with a can-do attitude
* Open to being challenged to drive better results and outcomes
* Ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to work within a team environment
* Professional demeanor and ability to work with senior administration/faculty and highly confidential information are fundamental
PREFERRED SKILLS
* InDesign experience strongly preferred
* Interest or background in healthcare, academic medicine, or science
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Acrobat Pro
* Experience with Open Scholar, TeamSite, and social media platforms [Twitter, Instagram, Facebook] preferred
* Experience working with printers on production process
