JOB DESCRIPTION

Underwrites mortgage loan applications and evaluates loans in order to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss. Monitors appraisal process. Provides quality, accurate and timely customer service internally and externally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Reviews submitted VA/FHA/government loans for approval.
* Communicate with processor/originator on decision.
* Monitor status of loans in pipeline on regular basis; communicate with originators, borrowers, real estate agents and appraisers.
* Maintain loan submission register; confirm lock-in sheets with secondary market; order flood certificates and process cancelled loan files and refund checks.
* Comply with bank policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and investor guidelines.
* Prepare and submits closing instructions to attorneys.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additionally, the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required in this position:

High school diploma or GED and 5-10 years of experience as a Processor or Underwriter required, preferred in VA/FHA/government loans; or equivalent combination of education and experience

COMPUTER AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT SKILLS
1. Microsoft Office suite
2. Special software: Encompass LOS Mortgage software, 10-key calculator, coin counter, facsimile machine, typing of at least 40 words per minute, etc.
