Position Description Company: Business Unit: RSD Title: BCFS Health and Human Services Lead Cook - Bilingual Position: Cook III Job Family: Service Provider Program: BCFS Health and Human Services: _____________________ Reports to: ____________________ Status: Regular Full-Time Comp. Grade: 1 Grade Profile: 3-7 Frequency: Hourly Education: Required - High school diploma, or equivalent Preferred - 2 year associate's degree from accredited program/institution, or two or more years of college-level course work Experience: Required - 6 months related experience and/or training Preferred - 2 plus years related experience and/or training Supervises: Cook(s); other kitchen staff, as assigned Summary: The lead cook is responsible for oversight of the kitchen and cooking area staff to ensure foods are prepared and served properly and on time for meal service and in accordance with approved menus and all agency policies and procedures and federal, state and local food service standards. To successfully perform this job, the employee may be expected to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990: Essential Functions: 1.Maintain supply and equipment inventory. 2.Prepare food using approved menus and recipes according to agency policies and proceduresand applicable local, state and federal rules and regulations. 3.Compile and deliver accurate and timely USDA and NSLP meals services records. 4.Report unsafe conditions in the kitchen/dining area(s) to supervisory staff and suggestpossible solutions to hazards. Approved (ADA) Rev.3/10/2020 5.Frequently traverse the kitchen/dining areas. 6.Frequently move food and cooking equipment weighing up to 25 pounds in the kitchen/diningareas. 7.Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
Measurable Deliverables: 1.Maintain sanitary conditions in work and food service areas that meet or exceed all licensingand policy requirements. 2.Operate kitchen equipment and report any malfunctioning equipmentimmediately. 3.Produce a standard food product by weighing and measuring ingredientsaccurately. 4.Maintain knowledge of materials and equipment used in food preparation andcooking. 5.Implement BCFS safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case ofan emergency. 6.Work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary or requested by the position supervisor. 7.Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and programoperations. 8.Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BCFSemployee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, andcommunity members and complying with required dress code at all times.
