Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a junior-level Geologist or Hydrogeologist to support our Environment Business Line team in Hanover, MD.

As a junior-level Geologist/Hydrogeologist, you will support Project Managers (PMs) on environmental investigation and remediation projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region and throughout the United States. The mix of field and office work will depend on years of experience, interest, and capability but will typically range from 75/25 to 50/50. Field work may require infrequent overnight travel.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Conducting a variety of field activities which may include site assessments; overseeing drilling activities, well installations, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, vapor sampling, and in-situ remediation; subcontractor oversight/coordination; and safety inspections.


  • Assisting Technical Managers with the design, oversight, and analysis of environmental site investigations, including soil, groundwater and vapor; development of robust conceptual site models; conceptual design and performance evaluation of remedial systems; and preparation of technical reports and presentations.


  • Assisting PMs with project planning, budgeting, schedule monitoring and managing project controls.


  • Conducting a variety of office activities which may include task management/coordination, technical data reviews, cost estimate preparation, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file review, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.


  • Working effectively and collaboratively in team situations and establishing strong relationships with other teams.


  • Client and regulatory interactions as part of project team.


Desired skills/experience:

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification


  • Field experience with common drilling and well installation methods


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office-based software programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) #LI-RJ1


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or a related discipline

  • 2 years of relevant work experience; field experience with common drilling and well installation methods

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Aquifer testing, non-aqueous phase liquids, and in-situ remediation experience

  • Site safety officer experience

  • 30-hr OSHA construction manager training

  • USEPA and MDE regulatory program experience

  • CERCLA/RCRA report preparation experience

  • Professional Geologist (P.G.) license
