University Hospital and Medical Center is a 317-bed acute care hospital offering a wide range of surgical and medical services Since opening in 1974, we have distinguished ourselves as a leader in breakthroughs in orthopedic care as well as joint replacement. We continue to build on this tradition in our Orthopedic and Spine Institute. Our Center for Behavioral Health offers inpatient child, adolescent, adult and geriatric services while our outpatient services include a Partial hospitalization program (PHP), Intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a 24 hour behavioral health support hotline. They are also a certified Baker Act receiving facility. University is licensed by Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration and certified by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. As a Registered Nurse (RN) some of your primary responsibilities will be to:

Prepare patients physically and emotionally for exam.
*

Accurately collect, label, and process specimens.
*

Assist in the preparation of the room for the procedure by ensuring needed items open & ready for use.
*

Ensure all correct equipment in the room for the procedure along with all positioning devices.
*

Ensure correct implants present before case starts if needed.
*

Ensure correct radiology films or disc are available before case if needed.
*

Ensure correct patient, site/side, procedure, surgeon, and all other necessary items prior to going into room.
*

Assume responsibility for specialty area to make sure all items are ordered & present for cases.
*

Assist physician with preparation and performance of endoscopic procedure.
*

Assist in maintaining the environment of the endoscopy unit, to include stocking, cleaning, and equipment and supply inventory.
*

Adhere to safety guidelines with regard to cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of equipment and accessories.
*

Maintain current GI knowledge through attendance of 2 SGNA educational courses per year.
*

Adhere to and documents quality control practices specific to the endoscopy unit.
*

Demonstrate safe care and handling of scopes and identifies repair need.
*

Assure discharge criteria prior to patient release.
*

Accurately schedule and maintain logs of all procedures.
*

Initiate pre procedure interview call to patients.
*

Attempt post procedure call to patients within 72 hours after procedure; refers concerns to physician. * Maintain standards of professional nursing and supports the mission and vision of University Hospital and Medical Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Florida o or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions).

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and certification.

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification.

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support Course (PALS) and certification preferred.

* Two (2) year Associate Degree (ASN).

* Four (4) year Bachelor Degree (BSN) preferred.

* 1-2 years of experience required.
