We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer with at least 5 years of professional level writing experience to help us fulfill our mission of helping people achieve education and workplace success. This position can be remote.

The Senior Technical Writer facilitates the development of cross-product content and content-implementation strategies, working extensively with product leadership, product implementation managers, and operations to develop plans for improving and implementing operational content in administration manuals, webpages, emails, and training resources. While writing capability is a significant component, this role requires a deep understanding of the similarities and differences of all ACT products in order to plan and roll out content that meets ACT's complex product and audience needs, using appropriate communication platforms.

What you will be working on:

  • Takes the lead in organizing and developing content for customers implementing one or more ACT products; manages migration efforts into the component content management system and ensures content is distributed to various communication channels as appropriate.
  • Leads the development of all cross-product content by representing the department in project discussions in order to plan for and develop content.
  • Serves as point of contact for, consults with, and guides planning and decision making on deliverables, including complex, new and/or cross-product initiatives.
  • Translates high-level product requirements, communications schedules, and frameworks into detailed, executable content plans.
  • Develops, manages, and prioritizes deliverables during content production, and engages key stakeholders in planning for enhancements to content during optimization phases. This includes determining impact of deliverables, making recommendations on platform(s) to use, and working with stakeholders to ensure awareness and/or buy-in as needed.
  • Keeps the team informed of the progress on cross-product content development.

This could be the job for you if you have (minimum requirements):
  • Experience writing and coordinating large volumes of complex content
  • Experience in a consultative role or as a team lead
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a strong working knowledge of graphic design and visual presentation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within teams and across the organization
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired

It's a plus if you have:
  • Experience creating and writing technical communications and/or experience serving customers in the education industry
  • Training in Information Mapping, DITA, and/or other topic-based authoring processes
