Our client supports the Missile Defense Agency in the development, deployment, testing, and enhancement of the ballistic missile defense system. This system is currently being developed to defend the United States, deployed forces, and allies from ballistic missile attacks. This client performs detailed system and component engineering, flight and ground test analysis, and advanced capability development in collaboration with the contractors and government program offices that are building the missile defense elements and components. The client has a need for a Mathematical Modeler/Software Developer with mathematical modeling and software development experience to support Program 86 GMD System Discrimination.

The client seeks a candidate to contribute to ongoing and future efforts to enhance the Ballistic Missile Homeland Defense architecture and components as part of the Ground Based Midcourse Defense Technical Direction Agent. Tasks include evaluation of the Ballistic Missile Defense system performance as a function of the current and future system capabilities, development of future architecture concepts and component capabilities to enhance system performance, and execution of component-level trade studies. Mathematical modeling and software development will be required to execute technical analyses. Candidates will be expected to interface with government contractors, sponsors and warfighters to assess existing capabilities, identify technology needs, and present technical results. Candidates must also be able to conduct analysis independently and as part of a larger analysis team effort.


- Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance

- MS plus 3 years minimum experience, or BS plus 5 years minimum experience

- Systems Analysis and Engineering

- Data Reduction and Exploitation

- Algorithm development, implementation, testing and evaluation

- Proficient at high-level prototyping software language (e.g., MATLAB)

- Ability to clearly present technical concepts to a wide spectrum of audiences


- System Optimization

- Infrared phenomenology and sensor knowledge

- Radar sensor performance knowledge

- Space inertial systems knowledge

- Natural space environment effects

- Experience with DoD signature and environment models: MODTRAN, OSC, XPATCH, CREME96

- Program leadership


- Location: Huntsville, AL 35806

- Travel: Infrequent, approximately once every 4-6 months for a period of 1-2 days
