Your Opportunity

Our Wyomissing, PA office is looking to fill the role of Protection and Controls Designer. Reporting to the Lead Project Engineer, this position offers you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers. You will drive project execution while evoking familiar concepts as necessary to build strong client relationships. Apply knowledge of engineering principles to prescribed techniques and procedures to assist in completion of project assignments. You will lead teams of junior engineers/designers to successful project completion.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary client interface on technical and engineering clarification and the internal interface for interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Work closely with Physical, Protection & Control and Civil/Structural team to produce complete substation drawing deliverable packages.
  • Plan, organize and manage the day to day activities of the project from inception through engineering, construction, commissioning & record drawing process.
  • Organize and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with project leadership to meet project deadlines, understand client specific requirements (standards & specifications) and codes & regulations.
  • Coordinate with construction and respond to Request for Information (RFI)
  • Review equipment specifications and vendor drawings.
  • Support business development or pursuit activities.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Have a firm understanding of substation layout and protection & control philosophies and power/electrical engineering concepts.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Promote adherence to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Implement continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Lead the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) and understands main interest and drivers of external client's
  • Have excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, electrical preferred or related field with 0-3 years of substation physical design experience

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
