We are looking for an Material Handler who will join ourteam in Waverly, VA.
The Material Handler works in our Scotts manufacturing facilities. The person in the Material Handler position is responsible for ensuring organic or chemical materials flow through the shakers and mixers. They may perform housekeeping to insure that material does not accumulate, remove scrap material, and re-stack inventory. They will maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
What you'll do in this role:
Load, unload, and move materials within or near plant, yard, or work site, performing any combination of following duties: Read work order or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
Open containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
Load materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
Convey materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, wheelbarrow, or other device.
Secure lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
Lift heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators.
Make simple adjustments or repairs, such as realigning belts or replacing rollers, using hand tools.
Assemble crates to contain products, such as machines or vehicles, using hand tools and precut lumber.
Shovel loose materials, such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers, such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
What you'll need to be successful:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
One (1) year of related operations plant work experience
