Position Summary

Red Lion Controls, an operating company of Spectris, is undergoing a period of significant change and growth. With strategic plans to triple in size over the next three years through both organic and inorganic growth, the operations management needs of the organization are changing and are anticipated to expand significantly. As the organization grows – particularly internationally – Red Lion will need to become more strategic in its approach to testing, repairs, customer service and quality of our production department.

Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager, the Engineering Support Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the serviceability & longevity of automation testing equipment related to our product lines and support our Repair group responsible for the Product Rework (Quality & turn-around times, root cause / data analysis) and will support the development phase of new products, building and repairing production test equipment while working with a variety of electronic equipment within the York, PA facility. This individual will have an opportunity to impact our automation testing functions and our repair technicians as we continue to upgrade and update our automation testing procedures and make substantial process improvements on the production floor.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a prior leadership experience in a testing/repair operations role. This individual will be responsible for working with product development, design, customer service, sales and operations regarding the policies and procedures related to our testing/repair processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides strategic oversight for the establishment of effective testing/repair operations in our domestic and overseas markets in response to growing customer expectations and company business
  • Supervises the fabrication and support of our ATE equipment; ATE systems, test fixtures, and burn-in racks used in the production environment.
  • Addresses people strategy needs for the organization including establishing staffing levels, partnering with HR on selection and hiring along with training plans
  • Oversees the registration, calibration, and preventative maintenance of test equipment.
  • Communicates with various levels of management to resolve testing/repair issues.
  • Develops and maintains monthly Testing & Quality metrics to enable assessment of the effectiveness of the test engineering department; implements action plans to address any identified gaps.
  • Assists management in the establishment and goals for Test Engineering & Repair staff and assists them in the achievement of those goals.
  • Works with the Test Engineer Manager regarding Test Engineer and Repair Technicians skill requirements, training needs, and ensures professional growth of staff.
  • Works cross functionally with Customer Service, Sales, & Tech Support, in defining & enforcing customer focused policies and procedures.
  • Interprets product drawings, test procedures, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Has the ability to solder PTH/SMT components, and custom wire harnesses, adhering to IPC-A-610D standards.
  • Works along with Test Engineers to troubleshoot test equipment. Performs basic product verification tests, during product development phase.
  • Occasionally performs go/no-go testing to insure parts and assemblies meet the manufacturing specifications.Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with knowledge of electronic hardware and softwareRequired Licenses, Certificates or KnowledgeExperience with HW/SW communication protocols; RS232, RS485, USB, Ethernet, Modbus, ProfuBus, CAN, Devicenet, HSPA, 5G, Zigbee, Bluetooth.
  • Experience with Test Application languages such as; ATEasy, LabView, Teststand, BoundaryScan.
  • 5 years of related experience in a leadership role, preferably in a Test Engineering or Repair capacity with prior lead or supervisory experience,
  • Experience using general hand tools, soldering iron and drill press
  • Experience using visual magnifying devices andmeasuring tools
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope Scope, Wave form Generators, AC/DC Power supplies)
  • Technical troubleshooting / repair background preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging problems with creative solutions.
  • Must have a strong background in Microsoft Office applications; Word & Excel.
  • Proficient with creating spreadsheets & working with databases.
  • Excellent attention to detail required.
  • Ability to motivate employees.
  • Proactive problem solving and follow-up abilities
  • Demonstrate Professional oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with various levels within the organization.
