Red Lion Controls, an operating company of Spectris, is undergoing a period of significant change and growth. An organization with a significant and exciting foothold in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) space, Red Lion has historically been dependent on a wide network of distributors to reach its end customers. With plans to triple in size over the next three years through both organic and inorganic growth, the Applications Engineer will be responsible for setting the standards for training, technical knowledge, account management and customer support. Reporting to the Sales Engineering manager, the Application Engineer provides pre-sales technical support, product support, and technical support through sales process in alignment with Sales Channel accordingly. The incumbent will work hand-in-hand with Regional Sales Managers, Reps, and SE Team to maximize sales, develop channels, providing a high level of training, application, technical, and account management support activities. The Applications Engineer will be required to travel up to 50%.

Essential Job Functions
Provides technical product & application expertise to customers while working hand-in-hand with sales through the sales process.
Apply high-level technical and communication skills to diagnose application requirements, and develop product application solutions for customers and end users.
Can navigate and operate effectively in a complex environment.
Acts as lead point of contact on technical issues and customer applications in the context of team project pursuit.
Possess excellent presentation and training skills while effectively communicating content within the context of Red Lion’s product & sales strategy.
Represent Red Lion Controls at training venues and trades shows in a variety of highly professional work environments.
Works closely with Product Management and Marketing to launch new product and assists in the development of product marketing material.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls) or applicable experience in lieu of education, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales, preferably with electronics and/or electro-mechanical.
Primary technologies and experience desired:
Experience with Industrial Automation Applications: HMI, I/O, Controls, Communications (Protocols), and possess a strong understanding of system implementation “best practices”. Crimson Software experience is a plus
Strong familiarity and experience with Industrial Networking applications, Networking topologies, and managed networks is desired. CCNA is a plus
Familiarity with IIoT, WAN (Wired and Cellular), and Cloud connectivity desired
Familiarity with key Red Lion Industries and ability to position Red Lion products in various solutions - http://www.redlion.net/solutions
Ability and willingness to expand on existing expertise levels as needed to support Red Lion’s core initiatives.
