The Director of Product Management develops and executes a Product Strategy in support of OBE and Metal's overall strategic objectives. With accountability for the overall product portfolio and strategy, the Director of Product Management leads the execution of all activities regarding product lifecycle, in coordination with the overarching sales strategies to achieve the financial and operational objectives set by the organization. Additionally, the Dir Prod Mgt. is responsible for the execution of new product launch and project sunsets and will be responsible for coordinating with Marketing, Sales and R&D with regards to all things product-related.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Through a combination of internal and external market intelligence, develop and execute an annual and long-term product strategy for the business.
Work with the Regional Presidents and respective Sales Managers to drive sales performance for the organization by implementing product strategy, ensuring clear and appropriate metrics are in place, measuring progress and building mitigation plans to ensure targets are met.
Develop and implement an effective product pricing/costing model for the organization supported by key analytics of competitor products.
Develop robust business case information regarding product needs, including Market data, Revenue potential and ROI opportunity.
Develop workflow processes between Sales, Operations, Marketing, IT & R&D to ensure maximum effectiveness of new product launch.
Effectively manage Product Strategy, Product Launch and Product Life Cycle, including coordination of branding and positioning efforts for the various products and brands in Metal.
Research new technologies to be on the forefront of new product innovation trends.
Work with various resources to effectively identify, track and address gaps in the product portfolio.
Advocate for our customers regarding product needs and related solutions.
Play a key leadership role in the broader organization as a member of the Metal Senior Leadership Team (identifying common goals, sharing best practices, sponsoring initiatives, collaboration, etc.).
Collaborate with Regional leaders to implement proper disciplines and metrics within the region.
Develop and leverage strong relationships with leaders at multiple levels within the OBE business.
Strong strategic mindset with analytical capabilities and an ability to make decisions at pace.
Excellent product and market knowledge, across the entire scope of the Metal business.
Strong business and financial acumen with a mindset and an understanding of how to drive performance improvement throughout the organization.
Industry and market know-how regarding customers, competitors, sales and market channels, with an understanding of how they impact strategy and performance.
Excellent negotiating, influencing and communication skills with the ability to manage relationships and work across all levels of the business and with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to create, build and lead strong diverse teams; demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.
High level of drive for results and resilience.
Ability to anticipate and respond to customer requirements, expectations and needs.
Participate in select OBE meetings - strategy review, talent reviews, etc.
Engage/present to Metal and OBE (strategy, growth opportunities, talent, etc.)
Appropriate travel to ensure consistent financial and safety performance, safety, market, product and customer development and talent management.
