Position Summary:

Responsible for the coordination and direction of plant tooling projects. Ensures tooling work areas are maintained in accordance with plant housekeeping, 6S and HSE standards.  This position also addresses tooling related issues in regard to safety, quality, and efficiency.

Will be on First Shift and pay is $26.37 per hour.   

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all assigned tooling projects to ensure on time completion as scheduled

  • Assists with all tooling related downtime occurrences and must be able to address minor equipment issues

  • Maintains essential tooling performance (Press dies/Endform tooling/Bend dies/Crimp dies)

  • Creates and/or Modifies computer aided drawings and models as needed.

  • Makes minor modifications to tooling independently

  • Communicates proper operation of new tooling to process associates as required

  • Work with Process Engineering on improvement projects related to Safety, Quality, and Production Efficiency

  • Assists with the implementation of self-initiated and employee defined continuous improvement projects

  • May on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this job description

  • The person filling this position will understand quality policies and standards as they apply to this function

  • Daily/weekly overtime as required

Education and Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma and/or General Equivalency Diploma are required for this position. 

A minimum of 3 – 5 years of engineering/technical experience is required.  Proficient in the use of MS Office, AutoCad, Solidworks and/or MasterCam design software.

Preferred: PLC exposure. An Associate Degree and/or 30+ hours toward a Bachelor degree in a technical field of study are preferred.   A multi-disciplinary engineering / technical background in the automotive industry are preferred.

Work Environment/Work Conditions:

  • Work time will be spent between general office (5%) and factory floor environments (95%)

  • Temperature and noise may vary depending on external environmental conditions

  • Personal protective equipment is required on the production floor
