vCORE is seeking a hands-on Palo Alto Network Engineer to work in a dynamic fast paced environment, that will be project-focused, working independently with little guidance. This is a long-term contract position that is 100% remote, offering 20 hours/week. We're looking to start someone ASAP.

What You'll Do

  • Create, maintain and transition firewall policies

  • Shadow rule cleanup, cloning and moving rules

  • Configure and maintain routing on firewalls

  • Perform Best Practice Assessment and next steps to implement

  • Monitor firewall performance and integrity

  • Resolve issues through troubleshooting and inspection of infrastructure.

  • Maintain complete technical documentation

  • Assist with improvements to the firewall, network performance, capacity and scalability

  • Mentor other engineers and provide final level of escalation

What You'll Need
Demonstrated experience in the following:

  • Large enterprise environment 150+ firewalls

  • Active / Active HA deployments

  • Cisco, Dell or Juniper experience is a plus

  • BGP and complex OSPF routing in PAN-OS

  • Template stacks and variables

  • VSYS segmentation

  • Asymmetric routing

  • Panorama

  • URL filtering

  • Threat Prevention

  • AutoFocus

  • User-ID

  • Device-ID

  • Wildfire

  • Inspection of SSL encrypted traffic

  • VM-Series

  • PA-Series (PA-5200, PA-3200, PA-800)

  • Packet capture analysis and troubleshooting

  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI model

Additional requirements:

  • PCNSA and PCNSE certification preferred but not required

  • 5+ years’ experience

  • English fluency and strong communication skills

  • Pass a drug test and criminal background check
