Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) A. Harold and Associates, LLC is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer (ISD). Normal tasking includes the design, development, testing, and delivery of products in support of the Sailor 2025 (S2025) Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) Content Conversion (CC) effort. The ISD will work with Subject Matter Experts (SME), Multimedia Specialists (MMS), Computer-Based Training Specialists (CBTS), Videographers, and other ISDs to employ innovative instructional design and assessment strategies to support the broader S2025 overarching goal. Experience with United States Navy (USN) training standards and ISD process and/or prior experience on a Department of Defense (DOD) contractor courseware development team is preferred. This is a full-time position opportunity in Jacksonville, FL. Specific Duties/Job requirements:

  • Experience utilizing Instructional Media Design Packages (IMDP), Course Training Task List (CTTL) and Training Course Control Documents (TCCD)
  • Experience developing Training Task Analysis, Detailed Curriculum Development Outline and Logic Flow Diagrams
  • Experience developing, updating, and revising test questions, test banks, progress checks, Course Schedules, Instructor Guides, and Student Guides
  • Participate in Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), Integrated Process Reviews (IPRs), and various meetings and working groups
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts and ISDs to conduct information gathering from formal instructional training documents and United States Government (USG) technical publications
  • Design lesson outlines and draft materials including Script Storyboards and On-Screen Lessons
  • Review training materials for instructional soundness
  • Evaluate and analyze learning objectives and assessments
  • Provide guidance to videographers and photographers to support the recording of task performance
  • Convert designated courses for waterfront or shipboard environment compatibility
  • Detail oriented, organized, and concise
  • Concise communication, able to adapt to customer need
  • Exceptional written/grammar skills
  • Able to quickly adapt to process changes
Required Experience/Education:
  • Completion of a course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of appropriate course work in at least four of the five following areas:
    • Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology – study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material
    • Instructional design practices – study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness
    • Educational evaluation – study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments
    • Instruction product development – study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training
    • Computers in education and training – study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software
  • Instructor Led Training (ILT) development experience
  • Interactive Courseware (ICW) development experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
Preferred Experience:
  • Working knowledge of current US Navy training formal documentation
  • Proficiency in Adobe Captivate
  • Previous experience on a USN multi-media curriculum design and development, Authorizing Instructional Materials (AIM) Content Planning Module (CPM) / Learning Objective Module (LOM) system.
