Director/Associate Director, Field Medical Excellence (Schizophrenia)
The Director/Associate Director of Field Medical Excellence will be responsible for embedding a standard of excellence within the Field Medical team for product knowledge, understanding of the therapeutic area, and MSL skill. This will be accomplished through support of on-going training initiatives, active participation in MSL on-boarding, identification of areas for skill development, and identification of knowledge gaps. Additionally, the Director/Associate Director of Field Medical Excellence will also work collaboratively with internal colleagues to provide support to ongoing in-house lead initiatives such as thought leader development, serving as part of escalation process for external communications, and strategic planning.
Assist in embedding a culture of accountability and high standards of Field Medical excellence through:
Contributing to the creation, development, and implementation of MSL core competencies which set a standard of excellence for product knowledge, MSL skill, business acumen, and expectations for the MSL role
Conducting field travel with MSLs to share best practices, identify areas for improvement, and provide any necessary coaching in collaboration with line management
Working collaboratively with Medical Affairs Training to support on boarding of new MSLs and development/implementation of continuing education plans to ensure robust product and disease knowledge
Working directly with the Field Medical program leads to ensure MSL understanding of direction and strategy related to the schizophrenia franchise
Support internal initiatives through:
Contributing to the development and cultivation of long-term strategic medical partnerships with specific thought leaders and other external stakeholders
Facilitating a deeper understanding of thought leaders and their unmet medical needs to help guide medical strategy and direction
Attending therapeutically focused meetings and congresses to interact with thought leaders.
Contributing to the development of clear and actionable strategic Medical Plans by sharing feedback and insights
Participating and contributing to projects and initiatives within a matrix environment that increases the value and productivity of Field Medical and Medical Affairs
Maintain and update knowledge and expertise relevant to the therapeutic area
Ensure complete compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines
Foster an atmosphere conducive to teamwork and collaboration
Demonstrated MSL excellence
Doctoral level preferred in Pharmacy, Medicine, Biological Sciences, Health Services Research or Public Health, (i.e., M.D., Pharm.D., R.Ph., Ph.D., D.Ph.,)
Experience in schizophrenia
Position will be field based
Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to critically analyze and synthesize complex scientific data
Understanding of Medical Affairs and the role of the department in drug development and product commercialization
Ability to travel up to 60%
Strong leadership skills
Demonstrated problem solving experience
Ability to work well in a matrix environment
Flexible to changing priorities, detail-oriented, and works well under pressure
