SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

The Client Desktop Engineering team is the foundation upon which all Windows workstations and various mobile products are built, operated, and delivered. The team has a focus on expertise in Windows management and automation. The Client Desktop Engineer requires deep and broad skill sets covering hardware, operating systems, VDI, application packaging, and delivery, application virtualization, configuration management, scripting and automation, security, networking, monitoring, client vulnerability management, patch management, and update automation.

This Client Desktop Engineer will develop and deliver innovative End User & Collaboration tools with a focus on Ease of Use for the individual associates, students, and staff.

This position owns activities around the service lifecycle and is responsible for maintaining adherence to standards, vendor support, presenting the strategy of the service evolution, maintain license compliance forecasting for expense and capacity planning.

Job responsibilities will include but may not be limited to research and integration of new desktop technologies; development of software automation and deployment strategies and techniques; creation and development of processes and procedures to manage new VDI requests; packaging and sequencing software applications; developing patch management process for Windows and OSX based operating systems, workstation security to include workstation encryption, workstation firewalls, and workstation patch management; building and maintaining Windows 10 desktop images according to industry best practices; documentation and communication of configuration changes in support of change management processes; automating the deployment of images and applications; ensuring desktop images are updated on a regular basis, including documentation and communicating changes; development, maintenance, and support of automated Windows builds, SCCM, and various application packaging and delivery techniques; collaboration with other teams such as Infrastructure, Security, Network Engineering, Product Engineering, Support, Operations, and other related groups; development of platforms that are feature-rich, easy to operate, and easy to manage; assisting with research and development efforts for desktop virtualization; implementation of end-user computing security bests practices as per the Information Security road map; communicating with business areas within the company to understand and assess needs; troubleshooting and resolving complex 3rd Level desktop related issues; staying current on business and industry-related technology to support various business areas through lifecycle management processes; reducing and optimizing operations and maintenance duties by analyzing and conducting root cause analysis initiative.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

* Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

* At least five years of experience in systems analysis or related area, including one year in a leadership capacity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* At least three years of experience working with LAN and WAN

* At least three years of experience supporting Microsoft Windows Operating Systems software

* Experience in managing workstations via a LAN and WAN

* Experience with Microsoft SCCM, Active Directory, login scripts, Microsoft Office Suites is a plus

* Demonstrated strong understanding of all version of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

* Experience with of Apple OSX

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

* Strong knowledge and understanding of mobile operating systems

* Strong knowledge and understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy administration of client devices

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Strong customer service skills

* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills

* Ability to follow through and experience providing accountability

* Ability to perform with strong attention to detail
