Job Description:

POSITION INFORMATION: Reviews and negotiates contracts and agreements for research related services rendered by non-University personnel.  Assesses contracts for and ensures compliance
with University, state and federal regulations. 
Communicates with University personnel and the Office of Research Administration regarding contracts
and agreements negotiations.  Maintains
pertinent contract information, contract logs, and files
for service contracts and agreements. 
Submits monthly and annual reports as needed.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:


  1. Contract Review.  Performs initial review of non-research
    related service contracts for University compliance; forward contracts to Legal
    Counsel for Legal review; interprets and implements Legal requirements and
    University policies into contracts.

  2. Contract Negotiation. Corresponds with
    external agencies and negotiates contractual terms required by University,
    state, and federal policies and regulations. 
    Differentiates between absolute legal requirements and university
    preferences.  Ensures expeditious
    processing and execution of contracts. 
    Works independently to complete negotiations.

  3. Contract Preparation.  Drafts contracts as requested by University
    departments and supervisor from template university agreements.  Prepares contracts as necessary in coordination
    with Legal Counsel.  Works independently
    to prepare and send contracts to external agencies.  Prepares contracts for signature by
    University signature authority in accordance with standard operating
    procedures.

  4. File Maintenance.  Maintains all required written documentation
    and correspondence in proper order in each contract file in accordance with
    procedures.  Keeps information current
    and up-to-date within each working/pending and permanent file.  Files organized per standard operating
    procedures.

  5. Communication.  Communicates with University and external
    agency personnel regarding the status of negotiations and contractual
    requirements of the University and agency. 
    Meets with departmental representatives as required to discuss
    University policy procedures.

  6. Reports.  Prepares reports as requested relating to
    contract negotiation and workload distribution.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field 


Equivalent/ Substitution:  Will accept
48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree



Skills:




  • Experience working in a team environment



  • Good communication skills to work with faculty & staff of diverse backgrounds.



  • Be able to work with multiple levels of personnel



  • Work independently with little supervision after training


Preferred:




  • 12 months experience in contracts, sponsored program administration, research administration/coordination, or other related experience.



  • Experience in Higher Education



  • Have database and MicroSoft programs experience. 


Supervision:  Should be able to work with limited supervision after initial training.
