Job Description:

The Health Care Financing and Payment program within RTI International has an opening for a RESEARCH ECONOMIST to serve as task and project leader for new and ongoing research studies relating to health economics and other health services research.

Office locations include Research Triangle Park, North Carolina; Waltham, MA (Boston area); and Washington, DC.

Duties to include, but are not limited to:

* Identifying and designing analyses of policy and technical issues

* Analyzing and interpreting data

* Obtaining research funding for new grants and contract

* Authoring technical reports and articles for submission to policy and technical journals

* Communicating orally and in writing technical and policy material to technical and non-technical (policy) audiences

* Designing and executing qualitative and quantitative approaches to studying health
economics and policy * Motivating, mentoring, and supervising support and junior research staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* PhD in Economics, Health Services Research or Policy with a minimum of one year of relevant experience or a Master's degree in the same field with at least 6 years of relevant experience (Spring/Summer 2020 graduates will be considered)

* Strong skills in quantitative analysis (e.g., statistics, quantitative methods, data analysis)

* Experience with statistical programming packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, STATA)

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Strong interpersonal skills

* Strong attention to detail

* Ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary teams

* To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Interest and background in policy analysis of government health care programs such as Medicare and Medicaid

* Experience in program evaluation, policy analysis, proposal and report writing, and/or project management are preferred
