The Industry Consultant is an experienced leader with thorough knowledge of the processes involved in major capital projects in the Oil, Gas or Chemicals business sector. In this role, the Industry Consultant will work with the sales team to understand the customers business needs and develop a strategy to achieve the desired outcomes. The Industry Consultant will understand, and interpret the customer’s needs and propose a plan for application of Hexagon PPM solutions. Conducting evaluations and assessments of the customers’ business practices, work processes, and technical environments to make recommendations based on Hexagon PPM Solutions will also be a key factor in establishing a plan for the customer. The nature of this position requires in-depth understanding of the day to day workings during the construction planning and execution of capital projects. The Industry Consultant will provide knowledge and expertise to guide the messaging to our customers for external facing communications such as marketing, proposals and sales presentations. Industry Consultants must have the ability to work independently but will also be part of a larger team focused on selling and delivering software solutions focused on the industrial construction business.

The Industry Consultant will work with the customer to understand their business objectives, analyze and evaluate their needs and propose the end to end work flow and software that will satisfy those needs. They will lead all requirements workshops that define the “as is” and “to be” work processes, and thoroughly document and communicate those requirements to the customer and Hexagon PPM teams. The Industry Consultant must have excellent written and verbal communication and be confident in interactions with small and medium sized groups.

The Industry Consultant must be knowledgeable in one or more of the following areas:

Management of Major Capital Projects during the construction planning and execution phases

Construction Management

Advanced Work Packaging

Project Engineering and Controls



Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in relevant fields

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in industrial capital projects (refining, chemicals, etc.)

  • Thorough understanding of processes involved in capital projects

  • Understanding of the principles of Construction Management

  • A good understanding of engineering design, procurement and construction practices.

  • Some knowledge of information systems such as Smart Plant, Aveva or Bentley. Involvement in software implementations is a plus.

  • Must be able to execute outcome-oriented workshops and assessments for evaluation of customer needs

  • Must have strong, verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Ability to travel at least 50%
