IBA is recruiting for a Biomedical Engineer. The Biomedical Engineer shall provide biomedical engineering support for research projects related to the conceptual design and integration of medical systems with emerging aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and other robotic and autonomous devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts research on approved proposals, managing to schedule, cost and performance.
Performs market research into integration of biomedical engineering, Unmanned Systems (UMS) Robotics, and autonomous devices to evaluate products and capabilities for integration into military medical battlefield systems.
Provide biomedical engineering & unmanned and robotics systems SBIR/STTR programmatic and technical oversight and execution management assistance to CORs. This includes reviewing reports, plans, and prototypes.
Performs hardware and software Integration and prototypes knowledge based systems, robotic & unmanned technologies, biomedical engineering, and health information technologies in order to provide standoff, remotely operated, and autonomous capabilities for combat casualty care, operational medicine, & force health protection.
Research and prototype robotic enablers for application in other convergent scientific domains such as biomedical engineering, human performance augmentation and prosthetics.
Drafts written agreements (Memorandum of Agreement or Memorandum of Understanding) for collaborations with other Federal agencies.
Drafts and assists with written research proposals for battlefield systems incorporating biomedical engineering, UMS, robotics and autonomous devices.
Provides briefings as required on assigned research projects.
Writes abstracts, articles, web content and creates posters for assigned research projects.
Reviews research proposals and provides written evaluation to government Point of Contact (POC) on topics related to assigned research.
Coordinates and conducts project evaluation in tactical environments during field exercises.
Provides on-site SME and technical support to field evaluations. (This will require contractor to drive a Government sedan/van/pickup in addition to a Government High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV)).
Reviews classified documents and participate in classified discussions and briefings related to operational field medicine and communications.
Prepare classified reports and papers up to the level of secret.
Provides Systems and Device Engineering expertise and assistance especially in the application and integration of biomedical engineering and robotics technologies to TATRC staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience in the design, construction, and application of aeronautical or biomedical systems.
A background in aeronautical, aerospace, robotics, or biomedical engineering.
Experience conducting applied research in aeronautical, biomedical, or robotics engineering or a related domain.
Ability to design and build proof-of-concept prototype systems.
Must be capable of identifying technology enablers from related domains that have the potential to solve problems in the military medical domain, and develop research plans based on findings.
Must demonstrate ability to solve complex problems through the research and application of relevant theories, methods, and techniques.
Ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
Education, Certifications and Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Biomedical, Mechanical, or other engineering related field.
Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience. Experience shall demonstrate the ability to perform functional requirements.
Security Clearance Requirements:
Existing IT/ADP III Public Trust and above or ability to obtain an IT/ADP III Public Trust.
