Description


This position will directly manage a team of engineers focused on the New Product Development of scroll compressors and related products in commercial HVAC applications. Candidates must have proven experience navigating the early phases of scope definition up through product launch, including field testing. A key factor for success in this role is the ability to collaborate with global development teams as well as customer facing technical resources. This role will initially be focused on the ZPKZ next generation of commercial scroll platforms in the 12- 25 Ton Range including Two- Stage.


Responsibilities


  • Collaboration and coordination with global colleagues on a daily basis

  • Thought leadership for engineering's contribution to the scoping of NPD programs

  • Strong portfolio management ability in the execution of independently run projects

  • Collaborate with internal and external customers and cross-functional colleagues by communicating technical and project information

  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor capable of developing a team of engineers

  • Technical decision making, troubleshooting, and NPD guidance

  • Driving New Product Development programs through a phase-gate process

  • Identifying and solving resource / infrastructure challenges in real time

  • Support an engineering team through disciplined, technical problem solving processes

Schedule
We offer the flexibility of a core hour work schedule. Employees can flex their start and stop times given they are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules are supporting our customers.

Requirements

Basic:


  • Bachelors Degree in a Technical field


  • 7+ Years of relevant experience in compression development or high speed rotating equipment, or equal combination of education and experience


  • Proven track record in global collaboration and global product development


  • Independent thinker capable of leading cross functional programs in a matrix organization


  • Proven ability to integrate different technologies into a cohesive, technical system


  • Strong project management skills including budgeting, developing program schedules, and driving team decisions


  • Proven interpersonal and technical problem solving abilities


  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills


  • A basic working knowledge of advanced analytical techniques and how to deploy them 



Preferred:


  • 10+ Years of relevant experience in compression development or high speed rotating equipment

  • HVAC systems awareness, ability to integrate compressor with power electronics and other system controls

  • Experience with sensors, algorithm development, and power electronics

  • Experience with analytical methods (FEA, CFD, etc) and the ability to assist in structuring studies

  • Experience with Lean methodologies, Lean product development, and passion for continuous improvement

The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. Through or 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions. With the blend of businesses and functions represented under this one roof, there are many opportunities for advancement within the Sidney locations.
