BMS is a leader in the emerging Cell Therapy industry, and the Cell Therapy Digital Platform (CTDP) is delivering best-in-class IT capabilities to healthcare providers and patients participating in clinical trials as well as key internal business functions.  In the coming months and years, BMS will be launching multiple cell therapy products in the US as well as Europe and Asia, and the CTDP will be a critical contributor to the success of these products in the commercial setting. The Head of IT Cell Therapy Digital Platform will be responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership in developing a long-term digital capability roadmap and defining and executing the overall vision to advance the Cell Therapy Digital Platform (CTDP) capabilities for use globally across BMS to support all Cell Therapy products, in all markets for Clinical and Commercial.

Responsibilities:


  • Own the overall Cell Therapy Digital Platform (CTDP) vision, strategy and capability roadmap for the BMS enterprise in line with business roadmap & enterprise architecture strategy. Manage the delivery of the CTDP portfolio of programs across the enterprise aligned with the strategic roadmap.

  • Own the overall technical architecture of the CTDP and understand how the platform technical solutions meet the business needs across all products, markets and clinical/commercial.

  • Partner with relevant business and IT stakeholders to identify improvement and transformation opportunities, incorporating best practices into operational excellence across business functions including processes for demand intake and prioritization

  • Lead the team in defining the Cell Therapy Digital Platform strategy with a focus on: 1. Scaling the business – supply chain/manufacturing expansions, new indications, increased demand. 2. Enhancing global provider/patient experience. 3. Enhancing engagement with CMOs. and 4. Reducing COI Risk.

  • Tighter integration with 3rd parties - Treatment sites, Apheresis Centers, Labs, CMO’s.


  • Deliver differentiating strategy for engagement of key stakeholders in a competitive market environment.

  • Represent BMS on industry working groups focused on advancing IT capabilities for cell therapy products

  • Oversee Computer System Validation activities to ensure ongoing GxP compliance

  • Directly lead end to end application delivery for the global Patient Scheduling and management application on Salesforce.com platform.

  • Consolidate and track application portfolios in order to manage TCO. Identify opportunities for potential application portfolio rationalization

  • Identify new IT capabilities to enable efficient processes by continuously exploring the external marketplace for technologies, ideas and practices focusing on speed, user experience, quality & cost

  • Detect emerging trends and make recommendations for change. Evaluate new systems and recommend solutions to drive business value and share knowledge on new approaches

  • Partner with the IT leaders from IT for GPS, IT for Commercialization and other domains to provide comprehensive leadership oversight for prioritization and delivery of strategic programs that span the CTDP landscape.

  • Lead definition and Implement technology processes and controls that secure a robust vein-to-vein chain of identity.

  • Advise application level solution architects on design decisions and impact assessments related to design changes or release schedule modifications required within the CTDP eco system

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture domain leaders to ensure CTDP architecture considerations align with BMS EA standards and strategies

  • Establish and chair a CTDP Architecture Review/Change Board

  • Responsible for the overall solution architecture and overall solution architectural governance to ensure new capabilities 'fit' appropriately into the CTDP eco system.

  • Coordinate and manage overall build of any new CTDP releases, including cross platform break/fix to ensure platform and chain of Identity integrity and quality

  • Partner with EIM team to develop and maintain the Information Strategy for Cell Therapy (high level information flows, data catalog, glossary, authoritative data source identification, data quality strategy, rules definition, implementation & monitoring)

  • Overall Cell Therapy lead for Application rationalization with BMS/Celgene systems

  • Cell Therapy lead for IT Change Board / Process and evangelist – to ensure broader IT considers Cell Therapy in strategies and roadmaps

  • Partner with Application leads to ensure the IT support model aligns with the overall Platform and business users’ requirements at the platform level.

  • Provide ongoing support to build user adoption and expertise in utilizing technologies to enhance chain of identity security, supply chain performance and customer engagement.

  • Develop and manage contingency recovery plans and exercises to restore all operations timely

Scope:


  • Manage a direct team of 9 employees ranging from Senior Director to Analyst, and matrixed team of ~40 people across IT

  • CTDP is made up of ~15 applications, ~120 integrations supporting ~60 business processes globally

  • Lead annual investment budget of ~$25M and annual operating budget of ~$15M

  • CTDP supports all cell therapy products, in all regions, for all Clinical and Commercial demand

  • Enable the following processes: Site Onboarding, External Portals, Electronic Chain of Identity controls, Patient Scheduling & Manufacturing Slot Allocation, Apheresis and Drug Product Transportation, Cell Tracking, Manufacturing and Quality.

Skills and Experience


  • Deep knowledge of the CAR-T business processes in Patient Operations, Manufacturing and Supply Chain

  • Deep understanding of controls in relation to Chain of Identity (COI)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability in building and managing different sized teams

  • Demonstrated success in leading teams against aggressive goals

  • Able to plan and execute effective strategies that have led to measurable business growth

  • Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to evolve with a rapidly changing environment and anticipate changes in technology

  • Experience summarizing and presenting findings and challenges to senior level executives

  • Able to negotiate demand with business partners

  • Over 20 years’ experience in IT leading teams

  • 1-2 years’ experience leading the architecture and delivery of Cell Therapy Technology solutions
