Job Description

The Category Development Manager will be responsible for leading the category management process for K-C Family Care categories at UNFI/SUPERVALU, based in Minneapolis, MN.  This position requires the individual to interface directly with customers, as well as cross-functionally within Kimberly-Clark, to develop and execute category growth strategies, leveraging a broad and complex variety of data, tools and insights; incumbents must be aware of and be able to proactively incorporate customer, brand and sales team objectives and strategies into the creation and execution of annual category plans.  The individual will provide high quality insights and analysis - leading to actionable assortment, shelving, pricing and merchandising recommendations - in a timely and professional manner that exceeds the stakeholders' needs and expectations.

The position reports to the Sr Team Leader of Category Development – West Grocery, and requires a thorough and working knowledge of all resources and tools required to complete and present category management projects.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner with your Sr. Customer Business Partner and Business Development Manager to drive Category, Dollar Share, Net Sales and Contribution Growth within trade spending guidelines. You will collaborate with many different disciplines, including Shopper Insights, Shopper Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain, and will report directly into a Sr. Team Leader, Category Management.

You will be the primary contact with the customer regarding assortment, and the lead in developing the Category Strategy Plan, which will drive the Strategies and Tactics necessary to grow the Category. Overall, you will provide Category Development expertise, in-depth analysis and shopper/consumer insights for the customer and the Kimberly-Clark customer business team in order to make business building recommendations and deliver break through presentations. Promotion Analysis is a key element of the position as well.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; Minimum of an Associates degree required

  • Expertise in various data tools including but not limited to Neilson or IRI

  • New Item Tracking Experience

  • Proven knowledge of PC based applications (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with enthusiasm and impact.

  • Comprehend, communicate and respond to inquiries on a planned and ad hoc basis.

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally

  • 3 years minimum experience in a customer development function

Travel may include up to 3-4 hours per day, 3-5 days a week of work time. Travel may also include business travels via airplane to various locations. May include prolong periods of sitting, typing, viewing computer/laptop screens, along with occasional bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, climbing, twisting, stooping and standing
