Location: Menomonie, Wisconsin
The MCHS- Fitness Center Intern interacts with a variety of individuals via telephone, electronic media and in person. This is an employee-focused, customer service environment. Responsible for responding to customer inquiries, managing member records and access, actively promoting Northwest Wisconsin fitness centers and opportunities, scheduling appointments, payment and payroll transactions, subsidization management, desk functions, and supporting customer needs. Actively serves as a direct contact or resource to customers and vendors. Assist with and provide input on fitness center programs and promotions. Knowledgeable of services and programs offered within Northwest Wisconsin and promoting employee well-being via member/employee communications (i.e. Fitness Center intranet page). Request security access and Mayo Clinic access cards for members of the NWWI Fitness Centers. Responsible for maintaining building safety and security, solving problems, and responding to operational issues as they arise. Identifies and analyzes problems and recommends changes to improve work unit effectiveness. Exercises sound judgment during stressful situations and takes appropriate action. Assists with special projects, equipment procurement, and other fitness center operations as necessary.
Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in exercise science, health and wellness promotion, or related degree.

BLS skills; computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, WordPress; effective in a team environment, organized, self-motivated, and possess excellent time management skills.
License or certification
Basic Life Saving (BLS)- must be successfully obtained within the first 30 days of employment.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $13.00 per hour.
Hours / Pay period
Monday through Friday. 16 hours per week. Preferably 4 days per week to be determined at the onset of internship. 16 week minimum time commitment with option to extend to meet student internship academic requirements. Possible travel to Eau Claire fitness center.
