Planning Graphics Associate
University Administration

Job-Specific Responsibilities
Harvard Allston Initiatives (HAI) seeks a talented, creative, and self-motivated Planning Graphics Associate, who will also have urban design responsibilities, to join the department within Harvard's Central Administration responsible for planning and development of Harvard's property in Allston. Reporting to the Urban Design Planner this position is an integral part of a small team of physical planners and analysts who are guiding the future physical development of Harvard University in Allston.

The Planning Graphics Associate is expected to contribute to the development and production of a wide variety of materials such as, reports and planning documents, PowerPoint presentations, presentation boards, exhibits, as well as create and modify floor plans/site plans, schedules, charts, diagrams, and other items as defined.

Key activities include:

  • Contribution to the development of physical planning studies.

  • Graphic material preparation, including drawings, sketches/diagrams, maps, photographs, and 3D models.

  • Production of studies, reports, and presentations including layouts and editing.

  • Organization and maintenance of planning graphic resources (plans, renderings, and photos).

  • Collaboration with other University units on special projects and communication materials.

Basic Qualifications
Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:

  • Minimum of five years of graphic arts and publications experience. Education beyond high school may count towards experience.

  • Proven computer graphic and urban design planning skills. Portfolio required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design, Art or other arts-related field strongly preferred.

  • Strong urban design, planning, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Expertise in a range of computer software tools, including MS Office, AutoCAD, GIS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) and 3D model software (SketchUp, Rhino, or other).

  • Excellent organizational skills & the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and quality of work product is essential.
