The Head of Training owns the strategy and vision for the development and deployment of training for the Portsmouth Site; including oversight and collaboration on key functional training programs. Drives the development of programs that incorporate overall business objectives across the various pillars of quality, people, cost and innovation; this includes building partnerships with external vendors and colleges. The Head of Training collaborates with key stakeholders and site leaders to address gaps in the overall training mission as well as individual functional gaps, in order to develop program requirements appropriate for the site and to each department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development of appropriate qualitative and quantitative metrics to assess program delivery quality; ensuring continuous improvement, maintenance, and adjustment in program delivery approaches accordingly in order to maintain pace with business growth.

  • Develops personnel within the Training department and ensures they have the appropriate knowledge, education and experience to successfully implement the training strategy, including keeping individuals up to date with the latest practices, trends and technology.  Provides appropriate coaching and performance feedback to all direct reports.

  • Oversees the implementation of training programs at the site. This includes ensuring the creation of content, e-learning, collateral and other training materials that will impact behavior-changing training using various training theories inclusive of adult learning techniques, job aids, facilitator and participant guides, on-the-job training systems, tutorials, and demonstration models.

  • Conduct both internal and industry benchmarking to promote consistency, best practices sharing across sites and development of best in class training programs.

  • Leads critical site-based strategic projects; participate on global training projects as needed. Represents training during audits and inspections.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred. Life science, business/leadership area of study preferred.

  • Substantial experience in an FDA Regulated industry, pharmaceutical or medical device preferred

  • Extensive experience in direct and indirect leadership

  • Substantial GMP knowledge

  • Structured problem solving skills

  • Experience leading complex projects, strategy development and execution

  • Experience in developing and implementing effective training strategies

  • Ability to collaborate and partner with managers and senior leaders across a large organization

  • Experience managing continuous improvement initiatives

  • Experience with SAP, learning management systems and/or OE tools preferred.
